Nigel first started supplying cars to Clergy in September 1997, following an invitation from the then Financial Secretary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Liverpool, Mgr Michael McKenna working together with what was then called Coopers & Lybrand.
Priests had been going into car dealers and being locked into inappropriate finance agreements for unreliable second-hand cars. Because salesmen/women were unable to understand how Priests are remunerated, they were sold a sub-prime product.
Ultimately, what began as a worthwhile project in one Diocese started to grow rapidly and soon spread to all other major denominations. This led to the establishment of Newgate in February 2000.
Newgate’s business is founded on our continuing ability to negotiate significant vehicle discounts with manufacturers, specifically for Clergy and other related groups.
That Newgate’s offers are open to all family members, colleagues and those close to you. Maybe a son or daughter daunted by costs for a first car? Leasing is more popular than ever as people are trying to find just one area of their lives where they can fix their costs. With commodity prices projected to continue to rise (rubber for tyres, oil for engines, labour costs for servicing) there is a special opportunity for people to fix their motoring costs for the few next years.
And no plug needed!
People are finding the idea of switching to an all-electric car a bit of a challenge, particularly with the up-front costs of installing a charge-point. This makes our offers on self-charging hybrids very attractive and a meaningful way to care for Creation. The on-board battery charges itself, using the energy generated by the brakes.
