Economy and environment key drivers for youth worker Reverend Jarvis

Reverend Steve Jarvis – a non-stipendiary Minister in the Anglican (CofE) diocese of Hereford - admits he’d rather not have a car. But covering the scenic rural area around Ludlow while working as a youth worker in the town means he just can’t do without a vehicle. With environmental considerations to the fore, Rev. Jarvis’ brief to Newgate was simple – he needed a car of any colour as long as it was green!

Revd Steve Jarvis, Ludlow

A fan of Citroen and Peugeot, having previously driven a Citroen Xsara turbo diesel, Rev. Jarvis was thrilled to take delivery of a brand new Peugeot 207 diesel ‘Economique+’ in early 2010. This brand-new model offers some of the best fuel economy around and its emissions are so low that there is no road tax to pay – a real God-send for the finances.

“I do all I can to minimise my impact on the environment”, says Rev. Jarvis. “But covering a rural area for work and Church business means that a car is the only option.

“I am finding the Peugeot to be amazingly economical. I’m currently getting around 65 miles per gallon, which is a huge improvement on my previous car. At the same time I need a car that is reliable and has enough power to get me past agricultural traffic and safely navigate country roads, so it’s perfect.”

“The fact that there’s no road tax to pay and the money I’m saving on petrol have been a real bonus.”

Rev. Jarvis was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to organise his new car finance through Newgate: “It was really simple to sort out the paperwork. Nigel at Newgate kept me up-to-date with progress and it was a stress-free process”, he says.

“I wish I’d known about Newgate sooner,” says Rev. Jarvis. I didn’t realise I qualified for the clergy scheme as a non-stipiendary Minister, but I’m very glad I found out about it on the internet.”

This is one man of God who is definitely on a mission to save – whether it’s souls, cash, or the planet!
